Following the Prime Minister's announcement on Monday evening (23 March), we will unfortunately now also be closing the tennis courts from any use. We are following advice from the Government which states the closure of 'communal places within parks, such as playgrounds, sports courts and outdoor gyms'.
We really appreciate all of the continued support from our members and players at Denmead Tennis Club. As you will be aware, membership renewals are due on 1st April and therefore the committee will postpone renewals until members are able to use the courts again.
We will of course continue to communicate with you via email and our social media channels.
Thanks again & take care.

Following the Government's announcement on Friday 20 March we have suspended all group mix-in and coaching activities. Court booking and 1:1 and 1:2 coaching will still be available but the clubhouse will be out of bounds. A newsletter has been sent to all members and can be read here
The following is an extract from a newsletter sent to all members:-
'Following guidance from the Government and the LTA, we have been specifically advised that tennis is in fact one of the best examples of social distancing in practice, and so should be encouraged as long as the guidance permits. Tennis is also specifically identified as currently being a sport that is OK to play....'
Therefore we will continue with current activities albeit with adequate precautions as is outlined in the newsletter which can be read here
There will be a committee meeting on Monday 23rd March and a further update will appear then.

Tom Blanchard has won our Young Player of the Year for 2019. Tom has had an outstanding year making several appearances for the Mens A team at the age of 16. He also successfully completed his Level 1 coaching course this year. The decision to give him the award was unanimous among the club committee. Tom was presented with the award by Club Captain Aaronn Blackman. In the photo is Aaronn, Tom and Club Coach Alan Redman
At Denmead we have been proud of our informal junior schedule which allows players to pay and play and thus not committing them to a termly fee. However we recognise that some parents would prefer to pay by the term so we are introducing an option whereby parents can pay for a 6 week course up front. However, we will still retain the pay and play option which can either be cash on the day or online.
Today we held our Junior Christmas Party which was attended by nearly 40 juniors which was a mixture of tennis and festive fun. There were 12 Tennis Leaders there to help. Much food was scoffed and every child went away with a goody bag. The Leaders also took away a goody bag each. thanks to the coaches for helping make this a successful event
This year we had Joint Players of the Year. They were awarded to Deborah Coppini for her work as Ladies Team Captain and Andy Efford for having an excellent season for the Mens and Mixed teams
